Should public figures be named if they support abortion? Of course! Hiding one's head in the sand for fear of offending that person or his supporters is lending support to that person even though this supporter has no intention of lending support. Some Catholic priests and bishops say that publicly denouncing Catholic politicians who support abortion is not being pastoral. Christ was and is very forgiving of any sinner who repented regardless of how horrible the sin. But, he also denounced the sinners and hypocrites who continued to sin.
These pastors have a duty to support the official doctrine of the Church they represent.
